About

Anna Elsakova is a traditional and digital illustrator based in Amsterdam. You can easily spot her work of you see animals, drawn with exaggerated forms, with lots of colors and texturesAnna is deeply fascinated with the diversity of all animals. She enjoys observing animals closely (whether it in real life, or on memes and funny videos) and her art often starts from noticing something that makes each animal distinctive. This may be fur patterns, interesting anatomy, proportions or behaviour. Then she exaggerates or changes those features, sometimes observing how that affects the mood, character or emotions of an animal, and sometimes simply celebrating a little detail that made her happy.Anna’s practice is strongly visual-driven. Because each animal is really different, it forces her to try something new each time she tries to depict a new animal. Traditional materials, such as watercolour, gouache and pencils are at a core of her practice, but she often combines that with printing techniques, applique or digital drawing.
